The arcade dogfight of Lightning Sortie as a stand-alone page: fly a procedural F-35A against waves of adversary jets over the airbase, get on their tail and disable them with training rounds — free, in a desktop browser.
You start airborne at 2 000 ft · 350 kt over the lit base. Adversary jets arrive in waves — 3, 5, 7, then a boss with two wingmen — from 2–5 km out. Put the gun cross on the lead reticle and hold the trigger: tracer training rounds disable a jet on contact; it flashes, trails smoke, spins out and despawns in a burst.
The jets fight back: one that gets on your tail (within 20° and under 900 m) fires short bursts of orange tracers — slow enough to see coming and fly out of, and at most two jets fire at once. The HUD calls BREAK with an arc toward the shooter; pull hard or roll and most of its rounds miss. Eight shield units, two seconds of grace after every hit, and the shield regrows once nothing has hit you for a few seconds. Evaders break when you lock them and pop flares when you fire from their six (the reticle wobbles for a moment). Shield gone → retry from the start of the current wave. Difficulty (Easy · Normal · Hard) in the Lightning Sortie settings.
